Overview
Powered by AI, Smart Values are the values that the LinkSquares algorithm automatically extracts from all agreements within LinkSquares Analyze.
Within this process, LinkSquares’ automated contract analysis engine reads contract text. Through the use of AI and language processing, Analyze surfaces information directly from the contract and automatically applies a term known as a Smart Value for easy searching and reporting. LinkSquares AI pulls over 100 Smart Values key pieces of data from your contracts.
By using Smart Values it saves valuable time in pulling out data manually from agreements.
Process
Smart Values can be found within the individual agreement view of every agreement. Select an agreement from the main Agreements page to reach this view.
Smart Values may also be visible from the main Agreements page depending on the user's page configuration via the Columns button.

Smart Value Icons
Smart Value: The green light bulb indicates that LinkSquares AI extracted the information. This icon represents a value where there is high confidence that a value is present or not present. |
|
Inconclusive: The blue light bulb indicates that LinkSquares AI did not have a high enough degree of confidence to extract the information. |
|
User-Generated: The blue pencil icon means that a Manager or Administrator manually updated and created the user-generated value. | |
Processing: The gray processing icon represents a value that qualifies for an AI-powered analysis. Values for these terms will become available once the text of the document has been extracted and analyzed. Users will see this icon within newly-ingested agreements, or after Smart Values are enabled. |
Note: Not Present is still a Smart Value. This Smart Value tells you that the information is deemed to not be present within the agreement.
Inconclusive vs. Not Present
Inconclusive values represent values that require further investigation as LinkSquares AI was unable to extract the information with a high enough degree of confidence.
Not Present values represent values that are deemed not present within your agreements by LinkSquares AI.

Interpreting Smart Values
For all boolean smart values, a check box will be marked on or off, depending on whether or not the value is present within an agreement and based on the status of the value.
For example, with the smart value of “Automatic Renewal,” a checked box means the model found that this contract does auto-renew. An unchecked box means the model found that this contract does not auto-renew. If no mention of automatic renewal is found by the model within the agreement, then “Not Present" will be written.
Editing User-Generated Values
User-generated values can be manually updated by Managers and Administrators while viewing an agreement.
To do this, select the user-generated value and enter the information you wish to populate.
Select the gray checkmark to confirm once completed.
Note:
- Ensure you have clicked out of one value before attempting to edit another value.
- Smart Values cannot be edited while an agreement is processing.
