Overview
Finalize tokens can be an important part of the template creation process. Conditional Tokens take the standard token process and provide even further detail. When Conditional Tokens are enabled in an account, Finalize users can add conditional tokens to their template workflows. Adding conditional tokens can provide the following benefits:
- Tokens are mapped and displayed conditionally depending on the user's response
- Dynamically adjust specific token questions to be displayed based on a prior question's answer
- Reduce the total number of questions a user creating the agreement is presented with
- Streamline the end-to-end agreement creation process

Process
Creating Templates with Conditional Tokens
Conditional Tokens eliminate the need for Drafters to answer irrelevant questions when creating new agreements and enable Administrators to gather only the required information on the agreement up-front.
Requirements:
- Draft templates (Our Paper) that have dynamically triggered follow-up questions based on a previous token's question context.
- If at least one Single-Select or Multi-select token question type is selected during the token detail field configuration, Administrators can configure Conditional Tokens.
To begin configuring Conditional Tokens, edit an existing template or create a new template.
Navigate to the section of the template creation flow to configure Token Questions.
To configure Conditional Tokens, at least one Single-Select or Multi-Select token type must be selected during the token fields step of the template creation process.
Conditional Tokens with Single-Select Tokens
With the template in edit mode, navigate to the token question page:
- Add the possible options to the single token question
- To configure the conditional tokens, select ADD CONDITION
- That specific token question will be updated to an if/then format

The if/then format will trigger when the user selects the given answer(s) to the token question; the follow-up token questions will change to match based on the option(s) added.
NOTE: Conditional Tokens (Dynamic Language) is not supported in Salesforce Finalize
The above screenshot example reflects the contract duration; how many years of a salary must be defined.
- Select a token from the THEN drop-down
- Follow-up tokens can be any answer type
We indicate that if the user selects 4 years on the contract term, then only show the year 4 salary token.
If the user selects 3 years on the contract term, show both 3 and 4 salary tokens.
LOGIC:
- If 3 or 4 years is selected, then display the year 3 token
- if 4 years is selected, then display the year 4 salary token
This means the Year 4 salary token only appears when the contract term is set to four year.
Conditional Tokens with Multi-Select Tokens
With the template in edit mode, navigate to the token question page:
- Add the possible token options to the Multi-Select token question
- To configure the conditional tokens, select ADD CONDITION
- That specific token question will be updated to an if/then format
- The if/then format will trigger when the user selects the given answer(s) to the token question; the follow-up token questions will change to match based on the option(s) added.
The screenshot above reflects in its simplicity: If the user selects a Sign-On Bonus, show the Sign-On Bonus question; if they select a Retention Bonus, show the Retention Bonus question.
If the user does not select of their values or none of the options, the questions will be skipped.
Reorder the questions with the horizontal 3-bar line icon , next to the lined questions, using the drag and drop method.
- All Conditional Tokens can be mapped to terms within Analyze
Choose SAVE AND CONTINUE once finished with the edits, saving all of the new conditional token questions
Tips

Tokens can be added to a template to power conditional tokens.
