Finalize: Cloning an Existing Template Workflow

Overview

LinkSquares Finalize Administrators may want to create different versions of existing templates. 
Instead of painstakingly recreating a template, the ability to clone is available, allowing you to duplicate an entire template or just its questions and tokens—then modify as needed.

Finalize offers two cloning methods to fit your workflow.

All Template types are available for cloning.

Process

Clone an existing template within the Templates tab of the navigation bar.

To do this, click the clone iconin the upper right-hand corner of the template details page.  

. Select your preferred clone option from the drop-down:

• Clone All — Duplicates the entire template with all settings and content
• Clone Questions & Tokens Only — Duplicates only the questions and token configuration

Alternatively, clone a template after selection from the Templates page. Click the clone icon in the upper right-hand corner of the template details page and select your clone method.

Clone All vs. Clone Questions & Tokens Only

Clone All

Creates a complete duplicate of your template. Everything transfers - questions, tokens, dynamic tasks, tags, language, and permissions. This is ideal when you need multiple variations of a fully-built template or want a complete backup to modify.

Best for:

• Creating 5 variations of the same template
• Building similar templates across different teams
• Scaling templates quickly without rebuilding

Clone Questions & Tokens Only (Classic Method)

Duplicates only the questions and token mapping, letting you start with a fresh template structure. Use this when you want to reuse carefully crafted questions but need a different workflow, approval process, or template settings.

Best for:

• Reusing questions across templates with different layouts
• Maintaining consistency in questionnaires while varying structure
• Testing new configurations without rebuilding questions from scratch
