Version Compatibility with Microsoft Office
For the Word Add-in to work, we require the version of Microsoft Office to be using Edge WebView2 to render the add-in inside Word.
Microsoft Office Desktop
As of March 2024 the following combinations of Versions and Browsers support WebView2.
Microsoft Office Version | Retail vs. Volume-Licensed | Is Edge WebView2 (Chromium-based) Installed?* | Browser Type and Version |
Microsoft Office 2016-2019 | Retail | Yes | Microsoft Edge with WebView2 (Chromium-based) |
Microsoft Office 2021 | N/A | Yes | Microsoft Edge with WebView2 (Chromium-based) |
*Note: you may need to involve your customer's IT department to confirm that Edge WebView2 is installed.
If you are using a version of Microsoft Word or a browser not listed above, please contact your Customer Success Manager.
As of March 2024 the following combinations of Versions and Browsers do not support WebView2 and as a result the Word Add-in will not function.
Microsoft Office Version | Retail vs. Volume-Licensed | Is Edge WebView2 (Chromium-based) Installed? | Browser Type and Version |
Microsoft Office 2013 | N/A | N/A | Trident+ (Internet Explorer 11) |
Microsoft Office 2016 | Volume-licensed | N/A | Trident+ (Internet Explorer 11) |
Microsoft Office 2019 | Volume-licensed | N/A | Trident+ (Internet Explorer 11) |
