Overview
Users may be unable to access the Microsoft Office store to download the LinkSquares Finalize add-in for Microsoft Word.
In this case, users are required to manually sideload the Word add-in.
Note: If users are blocked from the Microsoft Office store, there may be additional security blocks that prevent the Word add-in from functioning.
Process
The following process outlines how to sideload the Word add-in on Windows.
1. Create a folder on your local computer in an easily accessible location. The folder can be titled something similar to “Word Add-In Share.”
2. Right-click on the folder and select Properties.
3. Select the Sharing tab.
4. Click the Share button.
5. Select the user(s) to which the folder should be shared by typing the name of the user in the search bar and selecting the user from the drop-down.
Note: The user performing this process should ensure the folder is shared with themselves.
6. Once a user is selected, click Add. The user will be added to the Name column below the search bar.
7. Click Share once complete.
8. Click Done once the folder has successfully been shared.
9. Click Close on the Properties modal.
10. Select the attached manifest.xml and trust_share_office_catalog.reg files (located at the bottom of this article) and save them to the folder created in step one.
11. Open the trust_share_office_catalog.reg and manifest.xml files in a text editor (e.g., Notepad).
12. Update the URL field in the trust_share_office_catalog.reg file to match the file path for the location of the folder created in step one.
13. Update the ID field in the trust_share_office_catalog.reg file and the ID at the end of the HKEY CURRENT USER field to match the ID from the manifest.xml file.
14. Save and close the trust_share_office_catalog.reg and manifest.xml files.
15. Double-click on the trust_share_office_catalog.reg file and click Run.
16. When the file has finished running, a confirmation message will appear to notify you that the keys and values contained in the file have been successfully added to the registry. Click OK.
17. Open the Microsoft Word desktop app.
18. Click Add-ins on the Home tab.
19. Click Get Add-ins.
20. Go to the Shared Folder tab.
21. Select the LinkSquares add-in and click Add.
23. Click on the newly added button on the Home tab of the ribbon to launch the Word add-in and log in to get started.
